Who is Monsanto? How can the farmers be fined or loose there farm for not using GMO seeds? After doing some research on this company, I understand your statement about losing their farms and being fined. I also found that a lot of our Senators, Congressman, USDA, and FDA people were all employed by Monsanto at some point in time. This company seems to have a lot of pull with the government. You may have wanted to give a little more history on them and the statement about the farmers.
You hear more and more about gluten and lactose intolerance, but I never would have correlated this to the use of genetically modified crops. Makes you wonder why this continues if we know the effects it has. I believe the gentleman in the video covered pretty well. It is all about profit, money, and corporate influence. The slide cast was very informative. It brought up some issues that you here about every day but do not really pay a whole lot of attention to. It also brought out some issues that you don’t hear about.
The narration was very clear and easy to understand. On the negative side there was a definite timing problem with the presentation. The narration was cut off at the beginning and the end of some of the slides and the overall time was almost two minutes longer than specified 6:40. I also noticed there was not a reference slide at the end.

GMOs have always been an interest of mine. You seem to have done a good job explaining why they came about and I really liked your video clip at the end. That being said, this video went almost two full minutes over time. That could have been helped a little by closing up some of the gaps in the speech, but things also just needed to be a little more condensed. I know this is a big topic, so that is hard to do. I also didn’t see your citations/reference page in there, so you might want to drop that in. Also, a fact I found really interesting, especially since your clip brings up government employees Monsanto backgrounds is that the White House has been serving organic food to the 1st family since Bush Senior.

I thought your slidecast was very interesting and I learned a lot about GMOs. This topic is something that I know little about, so I found your information very informative. Your slidecast had a lot of useful information and I could tell you did a good amount of research. I thought you did a great job explaining what a GMO is and how it relates to the food we eat. You also gave a nice history and background of where GMOs come from. GMOs are a very controversial topic and you did a great job explaining this aspect, showing that technology has numerous social and human consequences. The video at the end was a nice addition. Although you had some timing issues with your narration, the narration was clear and easy to understand. Your slidecast was also a little longer than it is suppose to be and you did not include any sources. However, your slidecast was well done and had tons of good information.

I think you did a great job with the topic of GMOs. This term is definitely one that we are hearing more and more every day because of the controversies over the pros and cons of these genetically modified objects. I think that one of the largest questions for this topic is whether or not it is progress and why. The facts and information you provided, especially some of the historical bits such as the problem of blindness in infants, was definitely a cool approach. I feel as though people only think about GMOs as super modified things of the future that people have negative conceptions about so it was cool to see some of its history. The narration was a bit awkward at times, but other than that I think the slide cast was very well done.

I think you made really good points about how as of right now GMOs are kind of necessary to sustain the very large population of the earth, but how we may need to wean off of them soon, or move to more healthy alternatives. For example it was good for rice to have Vitamin A put into it for malnourished people, but some pesticides can be detrimental to health and the environment. It was very interesting to see the two chickens from 1950 and today and see how in half the time, the chicken grows to be twice as big. Some of the graphs were a little hard to focus on and understand during the narration though. Also, it may have been better to not use the ken burns on some of the graphs because it cuts part of it off. Overall it was an interesting slidecast and I wonder what the future of GMOs brings, whether it will be use in more sustainable ways, or less use overall.
