Professor Dana Cuomo
Professor Cuomo is an Associate Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. She received her dual-title PhD in Geography and Women’s Studies from Penn State University. With interdisciplinary training in feminist theory and critical human geography, her research examines the intersections between institutional and interpersonal violence and the structural inequalities within experiences of citizenship and security. As a feminist social scientist, she utilizes ethnographic methods and prioritizes community-based research that incorporates local stakeholders in the research process, including designing research objectives and data collection. Her scholarship, including the projects developed with the GBV Research Lab, are informed by five years of experience providing advocacy services to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and stalking.

Professor Susan Hannan
Professor Susan Hannan is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Northern Illinois University. She also works part-time as a licensed psychologist at the Center for Integrated Behavioral Health, where she also serves as the Director of Clinical Research. Professor Hannan’s research interests are in the broad field of traumatic stress. She has conducted research that examines risk and resiliency factors associated with posttraumatic stress disorder following interpersonal trauma, such as campus sexual assault and childhood abuse. She is also interested in factors that contribute to institutional betrayal following an unwanted sexual experience on campus. Individuals may experience institutional betrayal if they believe the institution to which they belong (such as a college) failed to prevent a distressing event from happening, or if the institution failed to respond adequately if the event was reported.
