The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Research Lab is a feminist research and teaching lab with interdisciplinary research projects centered on examining and addressing issues of gender-based violence at Lafayette College and across the Lehigh Valley.

The lab is co-directed by Professor Dana Cuomo (Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies) and Professor Susan Hannan (Psychology).

The GBV Research Lab prescribes to a three-pillared model of teaching, research, and service. We prioritize teaching by training and mentoring Lafayette students in feminist and community-based research design, methods and analysis. We collaborate closely with our colleagues in Student Life, working to ensure that our evidence-based research projects align with and support violence prevention programming efforts in service of the College

In addition to scholarly publications, the GBV Research Lab produces a Whitepaper Series, a collection of reports that we distribute to our campus research partners and local stakeholders, in service of working toward a safer campus and community free of gender-based violence.

The lab receives funding support from the Division of Student Life.
