Lafayette’s First-Year Seminar  (FYS) Program has been part of the College’s Common Course of Study since 1989.  First-Year Seminars are inquiry based, reading-and writing-intensive courses for first-year, first-semester students.  Taught by faculty across the College, FYSes introduce students to the habits of academic readers and writers by exploring “big” questions in the Liberal Arts and Sciences.

I currently serve as FYS Director.  Faculty interested in teaching an FYS should  contact me  no later than Feb 1 of the year in which they want to offer their course.
