I currently serve as Director of Lafayette’s First-Year Seminar (FYS) Program, which has been part of the College’s Common Course of Study since 1989. First-Year Seminars are inquiry based, reading-and writing-intensive courses for first-year, first-semester students. Taught by faculty across the College, FYSes introduce students to the habits of academic readers and writers by exploring “big” questions in the Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Faculty interested in teaching an FYS next fall should contact me as soon as possible to discuss their ideas, and ideally before Thanksgiving break.
