The Last Charge….

So this past week has been the last week I have charged my phone whenever I want to.  If I said I wasn’t a little nervous about the weeks to come then I would be lying.  I am gonna have to be that much smarter about charging my phone and the use of my phone in general.  It is pretty sad that I could have withdrawal from it.  I think I use my phone so much cause I feel connected.  I like being in tune with everything that is going on and of course I do enjoy social media.  Also, I honestly just use my phone to pass times when I am bored. Another reason I am excited about this challenge is because it can allow me to find other ways to pass my time. Maybe read a book or get ahead in homework perhaps? Also, I am hoping this challenge causes me to be so much smarter with my phone and its usage. I was thinking I will turn it off during classes, which will not only save charge but will also allow me to pay better attention in class. Those sound like they could be very positive changes for. All of my friends are excited that this was my last week of charging my phone more then twice a day and I even tried to get them to join in.  They weren’t as receptive to the idea but I will keep pushing them on it.

I can’t even begin to explain how excited my mom was when I told her about this.  She said I better continue this challenge when I head home for winter break but we will see about that. I am sitting here on my couch in my suite right now enjoying one of my last three a day charges for my phone and it is an interesting feeling. I read an article on LexisNexis about cell phone usage that only increased my interest in cutting down on my cell phone usage as well. According to doctor Kayode Oyebode, “The use of mobile cell phones excessively can cause brain cancer.” (Ososgbo, 2013)  This is just another reason for me to cut down on my use of my cell phone. Not only to save energy but to also prevent harm to myself. So I tried to enjoy my last week of having a full charged cell phone all day and I am not gonna lie the next few weeks should be interesting but I am ready. The pros definitely outweigh the cons of this challenge and I am ready to take this challenge head on. Wish me luck!!
