  1. I loved this interview! I thought the questions were very engaging and the answers were well spoken. I also loved how you included pictures from Berma in replace of B-Roll. I thought it definitely still added to the interview. For the future, it is good to ask your interview subject to kind of repeat the question in the answer so you don’t have to write out the question on the screen. I think you can definitely cut it down too. Focus on what is most important in her story. Great work

  2. I enjoyed watching this. I, too, appreciated the picture of the map we could get an idea of where her home country was located. On the second showing of the map, however, I feel as though it was a little too big and it cut her off the screen. Additionally, I would suggest a change in imagery towards the end. The beginning started out strong but then all we really see is her in the same position, basically.

  3. I really liked your subject here. I thought her outside interpretation of America was very interesting and should be used as your hook. I think you should start with her laughing and talking about her first time in school where the teacher didn’t know she didn’t speak English. I also really liked how you framed her country and clearly compared it to America using statistics. I think this is a really great rough cut.

  4. The topic of conversation in the interview was an interesting, especially because I could relate to the language barrier of speaking another language, but have to deal with being understood in American schools. Anyway, in terms of how this interview could be improved would be to adjust the audio levels of her voice a little higher. Plus, more b-roll could be incorporated. Also, the text of the interview question displayed was a bit too distracting. Since your interview subject didn’t repeat the interview questions in her answers, you could find a different way to convey what questions she’s answering, maybe using calling title cards and applying transitions .
