Welcome to the Data Associates program at Lafayette College! We are a group of students and faculty who are dedicated to helping you, the Lafayette community, solve any problems you have that involve data, from study design and data collection, to data visualization, and data modeling and analysis; for a bit more on what we do (and don’t do!), look here. If you have a data-related inquiry and would like our group to take a look, please submit a request for help here. After receiving your request, our team of faculty and student associates will look it over, and if appropriate, assign a team of student data associates to handle the request. Please be aware that our resources are limited, and we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated, but we will make every effort to handle as many requests as possible. Requests will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
If we have the resources to help with your request, you can expect the student DAs to
- schedule an initial meeting to get to know your project and needs more thoroughly
- maintain open lines of communication as they make progress, under faculty supervision, on understanding the problem and potential solutions
- carefully document their progress and findings in a report to be shared with you
- schedule a meeting with you to present their findings
