Artist statement:
My current body of work explores the structure and duality of our perceptions of reality. In part, we lead lives beneath a veil of societal restraints, we are married to our physical bodies and the world they exist in. Beyond the veil, there is a interconnectedness between the self and the universe at large – with its intrinsic beauty and deep complexities. This duality of how we view and experience our lives manifests itself in different visual forms throughout my work.
Through the repetition of imagery, it is possible to explore the depth and understanding of an image as it evolves through a multitude of incarnations, and present a physical manifestation of the infinite possibilities within an object or idea. Through the use of layering images, different media and transparencies of ink, a dialogue or interaction between the past and present of the images is formed.
