I am an assistant professor of biology, with affiliation with the Computer Science department. Before joining Lafayette College, I worked briefly as a senior bioinformatics scientist in the translational genomics division of a leading DNA sequencing company. I earned my BS and MS in computer science and Ph.D. in Biochemistry. After my doctoral study, I was awarded the NIH IRACDA postdoctoral fellowship that supported my research and scientific teaching training at my alma mater, Rutgers University – New Brunswick. My research takes computational approaches – machine learning and algorithm design – in studying the polyadenylation of pre-mRNAs, biological functions of non-coding genomes, Next Generation Sequencing, and Biomedical Informatics for Personal Medicine. Additionally, I am a seasoned software developer. My lab develops open-source bioinformatics tools using Python and R in Linux/Unix platform.
