ITS Coffee Break returns from a long hiatus to talk about  the mobile web, a college portal, the “Teaching with Technology” grant program,  Twitter Bootstrap, Massively Open Online Courses, and Dick Tracy-style watches that sync with your smartphone.

    • The college’s web presence is now mobile. We have a mobile home page available at m.lafayette.edu (your phone will be auto-redirected to that) and a mobile theme for all department, office, and program web sites.

    • Work on the portal continues, with a launch planned for this summer.
    • Includes blocks for Zimbra Calendar, Zimbra Inbox, Moodle and Spaces courses, single sign-on to many college web apps (Moodle, Zimbra, Google Drive)
  • Unified Communications Pilot
    • UC offers HD audio, video conferencing, phone calls from your computer, instant messaging, and an app for your iPhone or Android phone that lets you make calls over the wireless network (yes, even in Skillman Library)
  • Teaching with Technology Grant Program
    • Information Technology Services is offering grants to encourage and financially support full-time members of the faculty who are interested in exploring new ways of improving their teaching through innovative pedagogical strategies augmented with technology.
