Project 3 Research Presentations due 4/3 & 4/8

Each student will make a brief presentation to the class about their research. The goals for these presentations are

  • to practice speaking and listening to presentations,
  • to develop rhetorical awareness about presentations, and
  • to share your work with your peers so we can learn from each other.

Your individual presentation must be at least 5 minutes long but no more than 7 minutes long. Please practice it and time yourself to make sure that your presentation fits within the timeframe. After you present, we’ll have a chance to ask you questions.

During your presentation, please address at least 5 of the following bullets (in the most logical order for your purposes); you do not need to answer them all:

  • What was your research topic and question?
  • What did your research reveal? What is the conversation? What are the main claims?
  • What rhetorical choices did you make when researching and composing? What types of sources did you include in your annotated bibliography and why?
  • Who are the main contributors shaping this conversation? What is their claim to expertise/authority? Does it seem as if anyone is left out of the conversation?
  • What surprised you?
  • What questions remain?
  • What did you enjoy most about this project?
  • What were the challenges to your project?
  • What did this project accomplish for you?
  • What do you hope it will accomplish for others?

Please feel free to use extra materials to help make your presentation interesting and engaging. Be creative! And, of course, come and talk with me if you need help or ideas.
