Vertical Farming Powering Urban Food Sources

Vertical Farm

Vertical Farming has finally been implemented commercially in Singapore.

It also seems to be making money, which is one of the key points of making vertical farming sustainable for the future.

It saves land  and water by being around 10 times more efficient than a conventional farm.

The class project Don and I are working on is about the effects of nonpoint source pollution (specifically, from agricultural runoff) in our water sources.
From our research, vertical farming is far and away the best method of controlling runoff. Coincidentally, the world’s largest indoor vertical farm is planned to open this spring in Scranton, Pa.

This is clever. This would allow urban residents to buy local food, eliminating the need to truck food into the cities from rural areas.
