The Lafayette Squash team beat Bryant College convincingly in its first match at this weekend’s National Tournament at Princeton University, winning 8-1. Lafayette received strong performances from everyone on the squad, posting 3-0 victories at the number 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9 positions. Chip Culp, Carter Rufe, Mark Botini and Captain Reed Edwards all rolled to wins at the top of the ladder. Lexy Pierce played tough in the number 5 spot, coming back after losing the second game to take the third and fourth games on the way to victory. Aung Lin, Amar Gujral and Holden Ranz all won big in their first matches at a national tournament. Frank Dalicandro too delievered a strong performace, taking Bryant’s number 7 player to 5 games before surrendering the match.

In Lafayette’s first year competing as a varsity squad at Nationals, the team is looking forward to their match on Saturday at 1:30pm against Bard College, who they beat earlier in the year in the Lafayette Inaugural Invitational.
