Our Goals

The main goal of the Sojourners Christian Fellowship for the 2011-2012 academic year will to be to better establish the presence of the organization on campus. Sojourners serves as the only religious organization at Lafayette that is geared towards mainline Protestant students. It is also the only Christian organization that has worked to build relationships with other the other faith organizations on campus, and has had members from other faith traditions become involved. This growth will be obtained by strong recruitment of the incoming class and by planning and advertising our campus events far in advance.

The secondary goal of the Sojourners Christian Fellowship for the coming year is to hold events which educate the Lafayette community on social justice issues and their relation to the faith community. This past year, we held an event on Environmentalism and its relationship to the faith community, co-sponsored with Lafayette Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP), which was highly successful in its purpose and in attendance. Topics for this coming year include Restorative Justice, faith and dating, and the role of women in the church.

The tertiary goal of Sojourners for next year is to strengthen the interpersonal relationships of its members. This will be obtained through more social and service events throughout the year and an additional retreat in the spring, hopefully overnight, in addition to a fall retreat at the Chateau.
