We took a short trip to the island of Murano on Sunday, getting delicious food, seeing the amazing sights, and shopping at tons of glass studios and shops.
We walked and took a short boat ride (~30 minutes from when we left our housing to setting foot on Murano) to the island, stopped at a hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop for lunch, and sat in the shade with a spritz each. We planned to buy gifts at some of the glass shops in town so we shopped around for an hour or two and spoke with many lovely shop and studio owners.
After walking around the main drags for a while, we decided to head for the northern side of the island, mostly populated by quiet neighborhoods, gardens, and parks. After getting cold granitas and 45 minutes of wandering, we returned to the boat stop and headed home. We wanted to stay for longer, even take another boat to the next island north, but it was a particularly hot and humid day so we decided to end the trip there.
We had a great time navigating the little streets filled with beautiful greenery and architecture, not to mention the countless shop windows filled with every glass item imaginable. The north side of the island was much quieter and more peaceful than what we were used to in Venice, a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon! We took a few pictures and you can see them below!
