On I 90 headed east. Pretty barren stretch Ruth a few cool ravines and lots of cattle. Saw some big bird with serious talons fly by. Got 80s music on the satellite radio so moms happy.
Survived campground number 1
Had a great night in Sheridan WY. Very nice small campground with all we needed. Clean showers started the day off right at 7am. Tim is cooking a campers breakfast if bacon and eggs. The RV makes for a close family but the gang is doing elk. No blood drawn yet.
Today we go to Devils Tower. Movie fans will remember it from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I will post pic later. Gotta run, the chuck wagon bell is ringing!
Little Big Horn
Enjoyed a stop at Little Big Horn and learned about the battle. This picture is from the hill of Custers last stand. They actually shot their own horses to hide behind. They were pretty easy targets for the Native Americans.
On the way to our campground for dinner and a swim. Showers there, hooray. Tomorrow it’s off to Devils Tower and the Black Hills.
The Griswalds are on the road
We picked up the RV this morning and it is 31 feet of awesomeness. Today is spent mostly stocking up on supplies and then driving to little Big Horn. Tim did hit one small critter on the road but that’s par for the course.
Montanans are so friendly, and they do call all animals critters. My favorite expression I heard today is “he was so tired his tongue was hanging down like a red necktie.”. More later when we hit the open road. Montana is definitely called the big sky state for a reason…beautiful!
Fun in Denver
On plane 2
We’ve gone mobile
I got the WordPress app so I can update and load pix from my various I devices. Of course that requires Internet access and who knows what that situation will be, especially in Yellowstone. I’m doing last loads of laundry and trying to find a deck of cards that actually has 52 cards. This may be the year Lucy learns how to play Hearts.
This is the most relaxed I’ve ever felt before leaving on vacation. I don’t feel like I need to be the concierge or cruise director. As long as I get to see those big president heads,I’m happy. Of course ask me how mellow I’m feeling after showering in the RV or campsites for 12 days. Long Island girl is moving WAY out of her comfort zone.
Off to pick out some books. I have a biography I got two years ago I haven’t read yet, time to find it. More tomorrow as we start the flying portion of the trip.
And the Blog Begins
We set up this blog so our friends and family can hear all about our trip to Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Step one was to find these states on a map. Step two was to find someone who could help us put this together. Step three was to hand over the planning to Tim. Step four is to get on a plane tomorrow and fly west!
We will try to post stories and pictures daily, if we can. Feel free to post your own comments or even better, provide advice if you have any. The countdown is on…
