What problems exist in your field of work that you would like to see solved?
-
- Most tedious thing is getting patient files from one doctor to another; for some reason they never seem to arrive, or if they do it is often late
- Do you think this is a data security issue?
-
- Not sure what the issue is, seems unlikely to be fully bureaucratic or fully software-related.
- Would like to have a database or something that you can upload / download patient files from with corresponding doctor’s permission
- Having patient data is pretty dang useful / convenient, would save a lot of time
What technical or equipment – related challenges do you encounter?
- When removing hip, there is a pesky ligament behind the ball joint that is tricky to cut
- The process is as follows:
- There are two bone structures at play: the pelvis and the ball of the femur
- The femoral head is held in place through suction and the ligamentum teres
- Insert corkscrew tool into the ball, start to pull it off. Sometimes this tears the ligamentum teres and sometimes not, you typically go in there with curved scissors or the like, but the awkward angle and tight spacing interferes
- Some type of ribbon knife (or any good tool for the job) would fix this issue
- Will reach out to colleagues in the field to see if they have the same frustration
