Josh Parr
He is the Manager of Food and Farm at LaFarm, Lafayette College’s working farm that supplies food to the campus to support its sustainable food practices. Parr began his job as manager of food and farm in the Winter of 2022 with previous experience at other school-related farms. We identified Josh Parr as a stakeholder due to his role at LaFarm and because LaFarm fell under several problem areas of interest. Those areas of interest are food & drink and sustainability.
Bon Appetit
Lafayette dining services are led by Bon Appetit and their team of chefs. LaFarm currently provides seasonal fruits and vegetables to the school. The school’s dining halls, Marquis and Upper Farinon, both have buffet stations that provide meals made entirely from LaFarm produce. The quality of the dining hall food is directly impacted by the quality of LaFarm produce.
Lafayette Student Body
LaFarm’s mission is to integrate curriculum and practice in sustainable food and agriculture for the campus community. They provide students with several volunteer opportunities throughout the academic year. During the farming season, activities include harvesting, seeding, mulching, washing/packing, etc. In the off-season, students can expect general maintenance in preparation for the upcoming growth period. There is an emphasis on building community while getting your hands dirty.
Easton Area
As well as providing food to Lafayette, LaFarm also sells produce to the surrounding Easton area. During the farming season, LaFarm has a stand at the local farmers market downtown. The farm also sells wholesale produce to various smaller groups outside of the school.
Noel Anderson
He is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the American Red Cross. Formerly the National Vice President of Humanitarian Operations, he was appointed to his current position during the fall of 2021 when the American Red Cross began working towards its sustainability goals. Overall he has worked at the Red Cross for 17 years, all in leadership roles. Noel Anderson was identified as a stakeholder due to his position of leadership in the sustainability efforts of a major non-profit organization. While not stated as one of our four primary fields of interest, the field of sustainability is still an interest to us because of its relationship with renewable energy.
