Teaching is where my greatest lifelong passion lies. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and continuously update knowledge and skills with the newest developments in my field to ensure that my teaching remains consonant with the national standards, the common practices in Chinese language and culture studies, and the Lafayette College educational mission. Since I joined Lafayette, I have expanded the Chinese language program’s curriculum substantially by creating seven new courses (see below) and have turned the Chinese language curriculum from a five-semester course sequence to a substantive five-year learning pathway.
FYS196 Exploring Chinese Culture (W)
PSYC/LLS 210 Second Language Acquisition (SS, W)
CHN212 Advanced Chinese II (GM2)
CHN311 Contemporary China I (V)
CHN312 Contemporary China II (GM1)
CHN411 Chinese Culture and Society I (GM1, GM2, W)
CHN412 Chinese Culture and Society II (GM1, GM2, W)
In addition to curriculum development, I have also dedicated a large amount of time and energy to program building. With great help from my wonderful colleagues in the Chinese language program, I strive to establish a supportive and inclusive learning community for Chinese language learners on Lafayette campus through cutting-edge technology-enhanced pedagogies such as Chinese-American telecollaboration and a variety of Chinese cultural events such as Lunar New Year Celebration, Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration, Dumpling Party, Chinese Karaoke Night, Chinese Cooking Event, Chinese Calligraphy Event, and Paper-Cutting Workshop.
