Education:
Dr. Paradise began her schooling with no intentions of going into law, but to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in which she would use to pursue a STEM career. In undergrad at the University of Michigan while Dr. Paradise was doing her research in a Lab, she found herself becoming concerned about the ethics behind genetics and scientist patenting genes such as BRCA1 a gene for breast cancer and taking them from the public domain. One thing that was majorly troubling to her besides the fact that these genes were now being used to make a profit, but the funding for the initial research was derived from public tax dollars. Dr. Paradise’s concern and interest in this subject paved the way for her to began pursuing a Law Degree, which she received her J.D. at Chicago Kent-College of Law.
