In this seminar, Dr. David Eagleman not only discusses neuroeconomics but also the neuroscience behind our everyday decisions.
David Eagleman earned his undergraduate degree at Rice University in Houston, TX and completed his Ph.D. at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston. He then moved to San Diego, CA to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute. Eagleman currently serves as an assistant professor at BCM in the departments of Neuroscience and Psychiatry. He is the principal investigator in the laboratory for perception and action and is also the founder of the Initiative on Neuroscience and Law at Baylor. His research looks at time perception, synesthesia, neuroplasticity and the intersection between neuroscience and law.
Eagleman is currently a member of the editorial boards of the journals, PLoS One, Seminars in Brain and Consciousness & Journal of Vision. He is also a council member on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Brain & Cognitive Sciences. Furthermore, due to his accomplishments as an author and scientist, Eagleman is a Guggenheim Fellow and a Fellow of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. He is the author of the international bestseller, Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives. This book has been published in 27 different languages. He is also the author of the books, Why the Net Matters, Wednesday is Indigo Blue: Discovering the Brain of Synesthesia and Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain.
