• Received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College
  • After graduating from Lafayette, he served as a combat engineer officer in the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army.
  • Following his service in the military, Dr. Gettens worked for Baxter Healthcare Corporation as a Principal Engineer in the Medication Delivery Division, where he worked on medical device design for medication delivery systems and pharmaceutical containment systems.
  • He then received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, where he focused on biomaterials, specifically protein adsorption onto metallic surfaces and corrosion of metallic biomaterials.
  • Currently, Dr. Gettens is on the faculty of Western New England University where he is an Associate Professor and the Director of the 1st Year Engineering Program.
  • He is also involved in a number entrepreneurship activities through the Kern Engineering Entrepreneurship Network (KEEN).
