Ryan Pick Gives Obama Chance to Change Subject
By now, everyone and their mother has heard about Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s choice for the vice presidential slot on his ticket. While a great deal of media attention has been focused on teaching the public about Ryan, his views and his policies, it is also important to note the democratic camp’s response to the selection.
As NY Time writer Peter Baker puts it, it allows for president Obama to shift the national debate onto a topic that is at least able to rouse some interest from the electorate. Not that the latest jobs report is unimportant, but referencing it nonstop for upwards of a month can tend to bore the electorate. With the introduction of Paul Ryan into the game, both campaigns will have a bit more ground to stand on, in addition to offering the voters a much more clear choice in November.
