Another busy day filled with glacial activities. In the morning we walked from the visitors center at Skaftafell National Park out to the nose of Skaftafelljokull examining the recessional moraines from the glacier and calculating the rate of glacial retreat. After lunch we moved on to Jokulsarlon, a pro-glacial lake at the base of Breidamerkurjokull where we took a Duck Boat ride on the lake between the icebergs. This was followed by a stroll on the beach (North Atlantic Ocean) where the bergs were stranded by the tides. An evening lecture and early to our rooms in anticipation of a long ride into Laki tomorrow morning.
