Get to Know You Exercises

Stare down:
1) Students get into a circle
2) Everyone must first look down to the ground
3) Then on the count of “three” everyone has to look up at each other trying to avoid eye contact (you cannot look to the sky or ground and you cannot switch the person you are looking at just because they are looking at you). Honors Code everyone, Honors Code.
4) Once you have made eye contact with another player, both are eliminated
5) Last two people left win the game.

Me Too:
1) Students get into a circle and crouch down
2) OL stands up and starts introducing themselves talking about any activities or interests.
3) When a student also does the same activity or has the same interest, they must stand up and say “Me Too”. The first person that stands up introduces themselves and repeats the process. From here on out, the OL and standees continues standing throughout the game.
4) The last person to remain crouching loses.

Share a Fact:
Students should find a partner. They will introduce themselves to their partner and share an interesting fact about themselves with their partner. After they have completed their introductions, the group will come back together and everyone will introduce their partner to the group and share their partner’s interesting fact with the group.

When the Cold Wind Blows:
1) Students get into a circle with one student standing in the middle
2) Person in the middle says “The cold wind blows on anyone who…” or “All my people who…” and chooses a trait or characteristic
3) People who fall under that criteria must switch spots
4) The person left without a spot must go in the middle and pick another characteristic

Adjective Alliteration:
The group is formed in a circle, and each group member is required to think of an adjective that describes him/her AND begins with the same letter as the individual’s first name (Eg: “hyper Haley”, “Athletic Anna”). The rest of the group will repeat that name and adjective and all the names of the previous people in the order in which each student shared

Train Wreck:
1) Students get into a circle, while one person stands in the middle
2) Everyone must look at each other
3) When eye contact is made, you must switch spots with that person (This does not apply to the person in the center). Meanwhile the person in the middle has to try to get to one of those spots first.
4) Whoever is left without a spot, must go in the middle, starting the process again

1) OLs ask group members to ask him or her if they can bring a desired object under the OL’s umbrella.
2) As long as the word “Uhmm” is said before they ask, then they can bring whatever item they wanted to under the umbrella.
