Meet the Team!
As a group of young engineers, we are passionate about designing novel solutions to reduce the severity of modern crises. With a talented team featuring out-of-the-box thinkers along with impact-focused architects, we hope to challenge ourselves in creating an ambitious amphibious robot that can directly support users across a variety of situations, including disaster relief and exploration. Our team prioritizes learning new things, everyone being heard, and being proud of the final product. These goals have guided much of our design conception as we try to answer the essential question of “what makes a project good.” As a result, we found we would need a project where we could identify an MVP (minimum viable product), incorporate sufficient hands-on work, was ambitious, had a flexible scope, provide infinite learning opportunities, and would make a larger impact.
Our History
HARRT is the Hybrid Area Robotic Reconnaissance Team, established in Fall 2021. We are composed of 12 undergraduate mechanical engineering seniors and a mechanical engineering faculty advisor at Lafayette College. Hoping to lay the groundwork for future senior project groups, we are fascinated by the idea of creating something that has never been done before and how we can make an impact. Therefore we were able to combine many of our mechanical engineering interests to make HARRT. We all bring different talents and interests to the team, reflecting our broad and diverse goals following graduation.
