Research in the Neurodiversity Lab focuses on understanding the interpersonal and environmental factors that contribute to the mental health and well-being of neurodivergent individuals, particularly autistic children.
The ultimate goal of our research program is to: (1) identify children with special healthcare needs who are at risk for poor socioemotional outcomes, including co-occurring mental health challenges; (2) elucidate processes that promote optimal socioemotional development in diverse autistic children and other special healthcare needs; and (3) inform family policy and practice through strengths-based community engagement.
The Neurodiversity Lab uses multiple methods to assess and understand the factors that impact the mental health of neurodivergent individuals, including surveys, interviews, observation, and neurophysiology.
