What is our Summer 2025 Project?

This summer, researchers worked to create:

  • A detailed annotated bibliography of research articles on evidence-based policy, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in public policy, and the politics of evidence.
  • A database of RCTs in public policy administered or supported by local governments in the United States.

Research Questions

  • Q1: When, where, and why do policymakers engage in policy experimentation?
  • Q2: What sorts of interventions increase the likelihood that policymakers consider rigorous evidence in the policymaking process?
  • Q3: How does the media cover policy RCTs, if at all?
