Who are we?
Two Lafayette College freshman who want to help spread information about outdoor accessibility for the physically handicapped and influence change locally and nationally.
What are our goals?
- To organize, publish, and distribute information about existing accessibility initiatives in national and state parks
- To inform the physically handicapped of barriers they may face in the outdoors and advise them on how these struggles can be overcome with proper accommodations
- To call for change and increased accessibility in parks across the country
- To help suggest good parks and give tips on how to make recreational activities easier for the physically handicapped
- To advocate more appreciation for the outdoors through easier accessibility
- Upgrade existing facilities to accommodate the physically handicapped
What can you do to help?
- Research wheelchair-accessible nature experiences and parks near you and visit regardless of your own physical mobility
- Ask about accessibility measures taken at your local park
- Spread awareness about outdoor accessibility for the physically handicapped
- Suggest ways for physically handicapped people to experience the outdoors more frequently
