This past Tuesday saw the premiere of Marvel’s “Avengers Assemble: Building a Universe” special on ABC, debuting a slew of new information and concept art for their next few films.  Most notably, from the group were three pictures: one featuring the “Hulkbuster” Iron Man suit, one of each of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, the newest additions to the team. I’m excited about these designs; Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch both look realistic and functional, and they stand out from the rest of the clean-cut Avengers. Having been described by Joss Whedon (writer/director) as “Eurotrash,” I think the costume designs fit the characters. The biggest remaining concern is if their powers will sufficiently “mesh” with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or if the addition of magic (otherwise referred to as “The Age of Miracles”) will be too much for audiences to handle.
