  1. 1. It was interesting to hear Howard’s original intention for organic practices to mimic nature’s operations, which they don’t seem to do anymore. Now, they follow procedures very similar to conventional/industrial non-organic ag, which would probably disappoint Howard, considering his original intentions.
    2. Your voice and speaking speed is very steady and consistent throughout. I also really like your addition of music during the middle part when you discuss Howard in relation to indigenous practices. It sets a nice tone. Your ending with the quote is also a great way to wrap up by tying Howard into modern times!
    3. While the music is a good addition, I might suggest having it fade out rather than continue through the whole second half of the podcast, it just feel a bit out of place and random coming in during the middle. On that note, the addition of intro or ending music could also be good! Adding another recording somewhere might also help to break up the tone a little as well.

  2. 1. I appreciated that he acknowledged where his information was coming from and respected the people from who he learned. The feeling I got from talking about him in class was that he had little to no disregard for his position and didn’t give credit where credit was due.
    2. I liked the background music as you were talking (I might want to do that in the future too) and your speaking voice was clear and steady.
    3. Going forward, I think just making sure the background music doesn’t overshadow your voice too much (it was good, but came close at times to be distracting) and maybe smooth out the ending so it is not as abrupt.

  3. 1. You mention how Howard’s opinions and writings influenced other figures in the organic food movement like Rodale (which is who my profile was about), so I enjoyed hearing more about the motivations behind Howard’s ideas in connection to what I learned about Rodale. Specifically, I can appreciate how the agricultural practices of indigenous peoples in India have made an impact on people like Howard and Rodale, but also the organic movement as it stands today, and us as consumers and participators in the movement.
    2. I liked how you included an audio clip at the end of your podcast, not just to include a type of media source, but also because it was relevant and left the listener with something to ponder.
    3. The ending of the podcast was somewhat abrupt, so I would suggest fading out with music to make the ending seem more apparent. Also, the audio levels between your voice and the quote at the end could be more even so the listener would not have to turn the volume up and down while listening to the podcast.

  4. 1. I was really interested in learning about the beginning of the organic movement as well as how Howard’s work influenced people like Rodale and Berry who we learned a lot about in class. I also found it very interesting about the growing process and working with soil because of how important those aspects are in organic agriculture.
    2. I liked how you were able to talk about Howard’s life but also focus on his work. I also really liked how you even talked about how indigenous groups he worked with taught him so much as well as how that influenced his and other people’s work overall. The balance between his life was well organized and it was really easy to follow!
    3. I liked the background music a lot but maybe fading out the music would be better to hear you. I also really liked the audio at the end but maybe adding a final sentence/concluding paragraph would allow listeners to understand the audio a little more and for the podcast to have a good conclusion.

  5. 1. I learned that Sir Albert Howard took from older practices in India and how much he valued the fieldwork over the lab work. He learned that analyzing nature and food is more important than trying to control it with laboratory methods.\

    2. I really liked how informative and structured your podcast was; you really just went into the points and gave us your perspective on his life. It felt pretty authentic to me and that’s what made your profile unique in my opinion.

    3. I feel like you should work on including more clips into your podcast; I liked the information you presented but having some different voices in the podcast would only make it better. You included one at the end, but more is better in your case.

  6. This was super informative and had some very valuable reflections. It is interesting to me that someone with so much institutional training was willing to learn from indigenous practices, and seems to show a great deal of respect to the people he learned from. I think that is very important for us today as well. Also, the clip at the end was a great addition. In the future, I would only suggest watching the audio levels, at times the music was a bit distracting.
