From listening to this podcast that Lady Eve Balfour was an author and activist who promoted organic farming in order to improve public health and community health. She also went on international tours to meet with organic farmers and lecture to advocate for the practices she believed in.
Something I think you could improve upon is potentially getting other sources to prove or show how she made a difference on policies involving organic farming (if at all) to go along with the segment where you spoke about how she wasn’t radical, but still made a difference.
Overall, I really like the pacing of your podcast. You spoke at a slower rate so that listeners are able to absorb and process the information. The transitional music was also very fitting and also helped to distinguish your narrative from passages from Lady Eve Balfour’s book.
Great job!
Hi Sharon! You did such a good job on this podcast! The music was perfect for the tone of the recording and really complemented the story. I also loved the transitions between your thoughts and the quotes- that was very well done. I had never heard of Lady Eve Balfour before but I am happy to know her story now. I loved your commentary on her potential queer identity and what that means for the world of farming at large. I think your pacing was really good but you might have spoken just a bit too slow for my preference- I felt that it was a little hard to follow at points because your words were very drawn out. Overall, excellent job!
I had no idea who Lady Eve Balfour was before listening to this podcast, and I definitely learned a lot about her work in activism and writing. She was someone who intended to improve public health through her works in writing and her actions in activism. I really loved the excerpt you read from The Living Soil, and the brief analysis you gave after reading the powerful statements from Lady Balfour was great to help the listener see the bigger picture. An improvement that could be made would be to remove some of the space in between sentences. I only really noticed this towards the beginning, but it could help to make the podcast flow better. This was a great podcast, and the slower pacing felt like it fit perfectly for this podcast.
