1. I remember the highlights from the article that we read about him, but I don’t think I knew that he tried so many different careers. Interesting that he was so intent on being well-known and famous… I wonder how much of an impact it made on his personality and what he was preaching.
2. I really liked how informal this podcast was and the format as conducting an interview/game show was very different and made it so much more engaging. I also enjoyed the comedic effects like including the interview of the guy who was interviewing him when he died. The gagging noises were twisted but hilarious.
3. I think for the future, there can be more content even while making it educational and fun. It seemed like there wasn’t much of a point at the beginning, but I think the rest fell in nicely after.
1. This was a great podcast that focused on the different parts of Rodale’s life as well as how he became very popular in discussing different aspects of the food system. Even after our reading in class, I was very intrigued in his beliefs as well as how/why he became so famous. I also really liked learning about the Rodale Institute because of how close it is to Lafayette as well as how it has affected the food system through various studies over the years.
2. I really liked the conversation and how the podcast was organized. It made it seem less like a podcast and more like a discussion amongst friends which made it really easy to listen to and enjoy the podcast overall.
3. I feel like I would have loved to hear more about Rodale’s life in general and more about why he formed his crazy beliefs. The podcast overall was very informative, I just wished there was more opportunity to hear about his upbringing and more about his early life.
1. I learned more about Rodale’s life within this podcast; I didn’t know he had so many careers. He seemed passionate about publishing his work and findings and eventually his work went into food purity and using nature to heal our health issues and diseases.
2. I really liked the back and forth between you and Nicole; it felt more like a conversation that I was a part of and more down-to-earth. You two really did a great job in engaging me about his life with your humor and dynamic.
3. I would suggest using more clips throughout your podcast next time; I liked the one in the middle but I think smaller ones throughout would help you transition into other topics.
I loved the structure of this podcast! The trivia-like dialogue was very fun and engaging, but I also contained lots of information. One thing I was surprised to learn was Rodale’s career history. How does one transition from Linguist writing books about synonyms, to farming health guru? For episode two, I think diving deeper into his organic farming influence would be interesting. Asking questions like who was the intended and actual audience for his work? How was his definition of organic different from what we think of today?
