Loved how funky fresh this was!! SO groovy, so good. I really only knew that farm aid was a benefit concert, so I learned a lot about the events that lead to its creation (such as the economic crisis, 43% drop in farms, number of farmers living below the poverty line), as well as its impact of the aid (or perceived lack thereof). The critique was something that worked well, it’s always important to point out possible areas for improvement. The quotes/audio clips you included worked well too! In terms of improvements, maybe there’s a way to look at the lasting impacts of farm aid, or how it relates to other failing farm systems (like some of the policies in the 1984 farm bill that cut subsidies and kept a failing system intact).
This was amazing! Incredibly engaging and creative! I had known what we had covered in class about Farm Aid, but it was really helpful to get a more historical and economic perspective (such as the parallel with the housing crash and the popping of the farm security bubble) that provided me a more holistic picture of the ins and outs of Farm Aid. It was also interesting to learn about some of the more recent Farm Aid events that are still taking place. I also appreciated the critique you included towards the end, and I also think there might be room for more, particularly critiques in modern-day Farm Aid-related endeavors. I would also maybe suggest trying to incorporate some clips from actual Farm Aid events to give your listeners even more of a glimpse into the experience that is Farm Aid. Overall, you produced a well-crafted and entertaining podcast that was both informative and fun!
This was awesome, I enjoyed it! Prior to your podcast, I knew very little about the Farm Aid concert, so I learned a lot about the motivations and outcomes of both the original concert and the Farm Aid concerts of more recent times. I thought your discussion about the great success of the event being awareness, rather than reaching the 50-million-dollar goal, was particularly interesting. I loved how personal and engaging the podcast was. The format was solid, and I enjoyed the interview clips and critique perspective that you incorporated. As Abigail touched on, I think you could have utilized more musical clips from the Farm Aid concert for transitions/the intro and outro to help the listener gain a feeling of what the experience was like!
