We are assuming that the firefighters want to be helped and are interested in hearing our ideas for solutions. In order to carry the equipment necessary to perform the jobs of a firefighter one must assume a high level of physical strength and a high level of trust in their equipment. When we begin developing a solution, we are going to assume that the user is going to be a man in their mid to late thirties because studies show that 88% of firefighters are male and their average ages are between 38 and 39 [1]. For our solution, we are going to assume the design is not gender-specific, meaning that both men and women should be able to use the device without problems. We are also going to assume that the modularity of our design will allow it to function in rural, suburban, and urban areas all the same. On the more political side of things, it is necessary to assume that the local governments of these fire stations desire the cheapest and easiest solution.
