The Use of Gold Nano-particles in Cancer Treatment

podcast schematic

Gold is much more than a symbol of luxury, and in this episode of All Gold Everything (AGE) host Kristin Cabrera and scientist Raj Singh talk about the function of gold nano-particles in cancer treatment. While other nano-particles such graphene are also sometimes used, gold, specifically in the  form as nanorods, is the optimal material in treatment due its ability to absorb in the IR a, high conductivity, and reflectivity.

  1. Your beginning really caught my attention, which made me want to hear more about the topics. Everyone spoke very clear and made it very easy to understand. I found the interviewing process very funny and thought it was a great connection to show how the pubic really does not know all the uses that gold brings to the cancer treatment field.

  2. I am really not a fan of listening to cancer treatments, but your podcast made me so involved that I completely lost track of time from the beginning to end. Starting with the intro music, which I thought was great to the clear demonstration of the use of nano-particles in cancer treatments (for someone who doesn’t know anything about the topic) to the public views on the use of gold in medicine. Lastly, the rap song was definitely a perfect ending to the podcast.

  3. The podcast turned a rather dry topic into an interesting and informative learning experience. The speakers conveyed the information in a smooth and nature way which added to the realistic feeling of the podcast. You did a nice job with the editing software on audacity and the research on caner treatment.

    1. I agree with evrything Colin has said. I also thought the podcast was done in a really fun way. Especially the funny name, interviews, and the rap that summarized it all. Great job.

  4. This podcast was definitely easy to follow and it seems very accessible to all listeners, even those who may not have a huge interest in science or engineering. It was very creative, and I liked how it was organized. Finally, the explanation flowed very naturally to cover all of the intended areas of the subject matter from the process, to different perceptions, to challenges involved with the process. Good job!

  5. Having also done research on photo-thermal therapy, it was interesting seeing your group talk a different approach, heavily focusing on the process. Because you incorporated various accents and summarized all your major points in a clear and nice rap, I really enjoyed listening to your podcast. Excellent job guys, I had a good time listening to this podcast.
