I really liked the information about the impact of the dam on the Earth’s rotation, that is an environmental impact that I have never considered and I find it really fascinating. The only thing I would say could be added is a verdict: is saving the coal worth the environmental costs?
I enjoyed the facts about how damming rivers affects the environment, I had never though of how much doing this could change an ecosystem. Something you guys never do say why the dam is controversial. A couple minor fixes could be made though. I feel as if there is no real introduction to the information though; there is no why just a “today we are talking about this.” information is portrayed The intro music only plays through the left portion of a speaker system.
I loved the introduction music, and the way the music fades out at the beginning of the audio. I also think that the weird sound of something moving at around 2:51 could be removed so that your podcast becomes perfect. All in I like that you consider the impact on civilians displacement in your podcast. It would also be interesting to know if the government did anything to help the displaced citizens since the government initiated the hydroelectric implementation.
First thing’s first, good job on the title of the podcast! Now for the actual podcast: I liked the facts that you guys presented and also the way you compared the numerical values with terms that a normal listener can understand in order to give a better idea of the magnitude. I did however notice the parts where you guys cropped and restitched the recordings. This transition could be made smoother by cutting out full sentences and re-recording those.
The podcast introduced the dam of size, power generation, environment effect, traffic consideration and tourism effect. Also, the podcast tells audience the difference between usual electricity plants powered by power. Then, hosts evaluate the dam from positive and negative impact of the dam. Although the dam decrease the coal used for electricity generation, the dam’s construction and impact on environment may actually worse.
I believe the podcast could still be improved if hosts analyze how the dam cause greater negative impact than its positive impact. Just stating the impact would be worse than burning the coal it saved is too brief.
I enjoyed the laid back podcast format while it continues to be informative. They introduce the topic with non-scientific facts before going farther into the more technical side and this has the effect of getting a viewer enticed to hear the “boring” part (I use the word boring lightly). Good job on the title!
I like podcast topic. I think this podcast does a great job in explaining how dam can make an effect to the earth and environment. My only suggestion would be to be focus more on the technical aspects on hydropower than on the impacts it makes on the environment. I feel the audience does not really understand how hydropower works after listening to the podcast, which i believe is the objective of this podcast. You guys have presented the impact of hydropower on the environment very well, but a little more focus on the how the energy generation work would make it a DAMN GOOD PODCAST! Anyways, i liked listening to it. Your voices sounded consistent. All in all, great job!
