In this podcast quantum dots are used to explain the wonders of bottom up-nano-fabrication. Quantum dots are crystals made of a combination of metal and metalloid atoms that emits light under certain conditions of excitement. These crystals contain a few hundred atoms each, making their dimensions of tens of nanometers. The most important property that the crystals display is the emission of defined electromagnetic radiation which wavelength depends uniquely on their size, not the material used to make it.

Project Summary: In this project we will be creating a podcast of an important topic related to nanotechnology.  Our group has decided to focus on methods for microfluidic and MEMs development.  In our podcast we will discuss the origins of MEMs, fabrication (top down photolithography), why we use MEMs today and the future of the industry.  In order to explain all of this information in a creative, yet concise, format we decided to have one host of the podcast who will interview “experts” about the various subtopics related to MEMs.  We also are including several graphics in order to help the listener have a better understanding of the topic.
