Beta Prototype Description
This prototype is looking to increase the likelihood of user interaction by implementing a more mechanical system and adding some level of incentive to the system. The Beta Prototype is a physical system which has a mechanical door and hinge part and user interface that are both controlled by a Raspberry Pi.
The top figure shows the mechanical aspect of the system with the two doors that will cover the recycling and trash cans until activated by the Raspberry Pi. The lower picture shows the user interface and with the Raspberry Pi underneath it. This will be mounted in the middle of the mechanical system on the flat surface and will guide the user through a series of questions to figure our whether or not the item the user is trying to dispose of is recycling or trash.
