Tune In To Tune Out

I’m kind of weird in the fact that I have to listen to music when I write or when I edit my photographs in Photoshop. Depending on how serious the task is I might listen to some up beat music, or if the topic is more serious, say writing an eight page paper, I will listen to some calming instrumental music. It just helps me think better. I love drowning out my surroundings, it helps me focus on my task and makes me get it done faster (And yes, I am listening to music right now, it’s Rocket by Tori Kelly incase you were wondering). Screen Shot 2014-12-12 at 11.44.58 AM

I’m also kind of weird because I am obsessed with movie soundtracks. I love listening to them and every time I see a new movie I try to remember which songs I really liked so I can Youtube them when I get home. I even have a separate Spotify playlist just with movie songs (I currently have 111 songs so far).

However, this is only for writing and photography. If I’m studying for an exam the noise of music becomes my enemy. I need absolute silence.

In order for you to get an idea of what types of music I listen to here are two playlists–one is songs with lyrics, the other some instrumental music. And if, for some reason, you hate all of these songs that’s okay! I have dozens of playlists on my Spotify (@ Caroline Russell) you can go an explore if you need any music.
