From Farm to Table

Yesterday I spent my morning helping the other Tech Clinic group harvest and gather cucumbers, squash, beats, carrots, and kale (to name a few). These were later distributed at the Pine street community garden where local residents could take whatever they pleased. Foods from other other local community gardens were also donated.

Here are some pictures:

I later visited LaFarm and sprayed Sarah’s row of eggplant, Alexa’s squash & cucumbers, and the rest of my gourds. There are a few important details to note when picking an appropriate repellent:

(1) What plants are being targeted?

(2) What pests are the culprits?

(3) Are there pesticide restrictions at your community garden?

(4) Am I willing to risk killing beneficials?

After much debate, I decided to purchase PyGanic, an organic pesticide, to combat the squash bugs and cucumber beetles ravaging my plot.

Note: I should be wearing long sleeves… also my christmas boxers are completely out of season (my apologies).
