Notes on Workshops

COMSOL

The motto of this workshop is “learn-by-doing”. The goal of this workshop is to teach participant’s the skills needed to simulate your problem in COMSOL Multiphysics, whether he/she is new to COMSOL or an experienced user.

Who should attend? Anyone interested in simulating and optimizing engineering phenomena based on PDEs, such as structural mechanics, heat transfer, electromagnetics, fluid flows, etc. Applications of the software are found in virtually every area of science and engineering.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact Nicholas Snaith by email at nicholas@comsol.com or phone at 781-273-3322.

LabVIEW Hands-on Campus Workshop by National Instruments

In this workshop you will get:
1. Introduction to DAQ hardware – capabilities, driver software, where to go for help
2. Introduction to LabVIEW – user interfaces, block diagram, collecting data, signal processing, writing to disk and learn how to create complete LabVIEW applications from scratch in minutes with interactive Express VIs and I/O assistants
3. Q&A – Address specific applications you have in mind

Registered participants also receive a FREE copy of LabVIEW Student Edition.

Use of Moodle and WordPress in Teaching

Participants will learn how programs like Moodle and WordPress can not only help students learn, but also change the conversations among instructors and students. Use this workshop session to gain a basic introduction to both Moodle and WordPress, when you might use one over another and how to incorporate interactive approaches that require critical thinking and online collaboration.
