Cons and Swords

So, just a few things to say and ask about.

In general, what does everyone say about going to anime conventions? We don’t exactly have anything planned, but if enough people say they want to, we can try to work something out. The closest one to us now (in both distance and date) would be New York Comic Con, but aside from that, it’d be helpful if anyone knew any others around us.

Aside from that, Nerf swords. With Fall break and most everyone going home for the weekend, we’d like for people to get and come back with Nerf CQC stuff so that we can do our battles. We had fun with it last year, so we would like to have it become a recurring thing. With that said, let us know what days and times you all could set aside maybe an hour or so for us to gather and duke it out.

With that said, you could let us know via comments, the forum, or just shoot an email.      See (most of) you two Mondays from now!

Starting Things Off Right

Hey everyone, this is JET, your other co-president!

So, first things first, welcome, and I hope to see as many of you possible there for our first meeting! Or even beforehand when we meet up for dinner over in Lower.

Now, regarding the surveys.

First, I’ll be taking all the answers and putting them onto a spreadsheet to send out to everyone once I’ve gotten a good amount back. Basically, It’ll be a contact/info sheet in place of awkward icebreakers.

Next, if you filled out the survey last year, and your answers haven’t changed/don’t care to write a new one, just shoot me an email and let me know. If you want to change up your survey and send me a new one, that’s fine too. If you were in club last year and didn’t send me a survey, you’re about a year late by now. But I’ll take them anyway.

The last thing I have to say is GET NERF SWORDS! Last year as a test run, we held a sword battle with the club, and the unanimous agreement was we should definitely do it again. With that in mind, I actually came up with a fun little ranking system for duels (because it’s not as fun when it’s not a competition, right?) and would like to put it to use.

With that said, feel free to ask anything you want to, throw some ideas at us, and figure out more things that we could do!

Whoops, I forgot I need to update this thing once in a while….

Yeah, so anime club is in full swing for the semester and we seem to have our lineup all set! You can always check the currently watching page to see what we are currently watching, but for redundancy (and redundant archival purposes), I’ll post it here:

You may notice that Munto and Boogiepop Phantom have less episodes than we have meetings this semester. We’ll probably discuss other 13-ish episode anime to watch around when we finish. So anyways meetings will be continuing on Monday nights at 8pm until 10pm so if you’ve got the time, come on by and enjoy the show!

Activities Fair

Iiiiit’s that time of year again! We’ll be in the activities fair from 7 to 9pm tonight. I know that if you’re reading this then you’re probably already in the anime club, but just showing up to support us or really hyping our club would be super appreciated. Also, there is a meeting tomorrow night in Gilbert’s at 8:30pm to discuss current choices of anime to watch and when we will schedule our weekly meetings so get as many people as we can attending.

Hope to see you at both events!

Paul out!

Schedule Change!

Due to conflicts with the spring choir concert, the movie night has been moved up a week and will now be on April 24th instead of May 1st at the same time and location. Also, next week’s anime club meeting is being moved to Wednesday instead of Monday due to conflicts with the percussion ensemble concert.

Also, I want to make note of how we had a table in Kirby Gym for Experience Lafayette College Day! Here’s a terribly embarrassing image:

Spring Movie Night – May 1st!

Woooo! Long time since the last post, but I have information that is relevant and important for you anime club goers!

Lafayette Anime Club is holding its biyearly movie night on May 1st, 2010 in Hugel 100. We will be watching:

  1. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
  2. Tampopo

The movies will begin at 6:30PM and are expected to end around 10PM. Come join us for the fun!

Other notes: on May 3rd, our normal anime session will be cut a little bit short to finish off the last three (amazing) episodes of Samurai Champloo and then vote on next year’s officers!

Open to the public!

The website is most definitely nowhere close to done at this point, but I thought I’d open it up to the public so we can collectively make it better! Also, I wish I had realized this when I had made my previous post and made comments on leaving comments, something that no one was really capable of doing. In any case, the website is up and running now. Please leave comments on the layout or information presented on this website.

C-Con pictures and information will be up as soon as this week stops being so craaaaazy is up.
