SMAC is a student-run organization that was started when a friend was diagnosed with cancer in his Junior year of high school. His best friends shaved their heads and cut their hair to support him, and they helped him to form Student Movement Against Cancer. Last year was the club’s first year at the college, and as a group, the students and faculty were able to raise over $30,000 for cancer research and awareness. The club organized many fundraisers including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, fundraisers at local restaurants, bake sales, and many other events. We plan to be just as active this year and increase involvement even more across campus!
