Lafayette College Student Government

October 21st, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 5:04 PM.

11 members were present.

Motion to approve minutes from October 14th, 2009.

-Women’s Club Lacrosse approval for reactivation as a Student Government recognized sports club.

-The Open Forum with President Weiss will be on November 3rd, at 7:00 PM in Kirby Hall of Civil Rights 104.

-Sports Management and Business requested $65 in supplemental allocations for gift certificates for fantasy baseball teams.

Gregory Saybolt – Elections

-There are eight senior class students running for Senior Class Council (SCC).  Elections will take place October 22nd through October 26th through an online poll.

Courtney Morin and Nathan Terwilliger – Student Life

-For Spirit Week, New Day Dawn, which is an alumni band, will open for B.O.B. on Thursday, November 19th 2009.

Steve Gadomski – Student Organizations

-Motion to approve Women’s Club Lacrosse as a Student Government recognized class 5 sports club.

-Motion to allocate $0 to Sports Management and Business for their supplemental allocation request due to issues with betting and gambling laws.

Lafayette College Student Government

September 16th, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM.

12 members were present.

Ashley Juavinett – President

  • The Lafayette Association of Visual Artists (LAVA) submitted a constitution for approval as a Student Government recognized club.
  • Futsal submitted a constitution for approval as a Student Government recognized sports club.
  • The Unity Team requested $50 in supplemental allocations for pizza and beverages for their first meeting of the year.
  • The Asian Cultural Association requested $30 in supplemental allocations for block party supplies.
  • Social Gaming Network requested $250 in supplemental allocations to replace stolen supplies.
  • Newman Association requested permission to use $2200 of their budget on food in addition to the $2025 that was previously agreed upon.
  • Technology Entertainment Design (TED) requested $75 in supplemental allocations for food for their first meeting of the year.

Ashley Juavinett – President

  • The Neuroscience Club requested $100 in supplemental allocations for their first meeting of the semester.
  • Pards to People requested permission to use $243.85 of their budget for a mixer at the spot.
  • Alternative School Break requested $200 in supplemental allocations for their fall and spring retreat food.
  • The Association of Black Collegians requested permission to use $80 of their budget to buy Rita’s for an event.
  • Questioning Established Sexual Taboos (QuEST) requested permission to use $150 of their budget for a brownbag on September 10th.
  • Tae Kwon Do requested information about their budget.
  • Global China Connection (GCC) submitted a constitution for approval as a Student Government recognized club.
  • The Capture the Flag Club submitted a constitution for approval as a Student Government recognized club.
  • The Table Tennis Club requested reactivation of the club.

Maire Newton – Vice President

  • The Leadership Toolbox for organization leaders will take place on September 29th from 4:30-7:00 PM and on October 7th from 7:00-9:30 PM.

Max Greene – Multicultural Affairs

  • Amina DeBurst and Max will serve on the new Lafayette Intercultural Networking Council (LINC) steering committee.

Steve Gadomski – Student Organizations

  • Block Meetings where leaders of organizations can meet about cosponsoring and attending events will begin at the beginning of October.  One member of each club must attend their assigned Block Meeting each month.

-Motion to approve Global China Connection (GCC) as a Class 5 Organization.
