Biomechanics

This course involves the application of continuum mechanics to biological systems from the animal and plant kingdoms.  Problems considered involve both solid and fluid mechanics, and frequently the interactions between them.  Topics include musculoskeletal (bone and muscle) mechanics, neuromuscular mechanics and control, and the physics of blood and air flow in the circulatory and respiratory systems.  I have designed this course to be accessible to and exciting for advanced engineering students, biology students, and students from other majors curious about how we can analyze, repair, and mimic the body’s dynamic systems.
