About Newman

Established by the Oblates in 1978, the Newman Association is a student-run organization that serves the Lafayette community and city of Easton, Pennsylvania. Although primarily a Catholic organization, Newman welcomes individuals of all religions.

Newman offers a wide range of activities from which students can pick and choose their involvement including…

  • student-run weekly Mass, in which students serve as readers, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, liturgical band, etc.
  • weekend retreats each semester in either Cape May (fall) or the Newman House (spring) that give students a chance to escape the chaos of school and reflect on their faith
  • weekly discussion group to discuss contemporary religious issues and topics
  • service opportunities that offer students a chance to connect with the Easton community (Giving Tree, Frisbee Golf Tournament, etc.)
  • social events planned by students that include game nights, trips (corn maze, ice skating), and activities after Newman meetings
  • dinners that are open to the entire campus community and often have themes (Halloween costume dinner, Valentine’s Day dinner, etc.)

The Newman Association creates a very caring environment in which students can explore their own personal interests while still being united by their faith. Newman meets every Monday night at 9pm in the Newman House (119 McCartney Street).
