Dear Professor Miller,
I had the great pleasure of working with your mother while she served as a member of the United States Metric Board. There is a story I would like to share with you and your family.

I just finished reading your excellent survey on William James which I purchased from the University of Kansas Press. As a retired AP US History teacher in York, Pa. I found your views to be of great interest. I have always enjoyed reading works that attempted to explain the pragmatism of James but I feel you were the most successful. Your book is so timely today when divisions in our country have become so absolute and are perpetuated by conspiracy theories. Science and academic excellence have become targets for extremists to attack. What would have been James’s reaction to social media? I enjoyed your 2020 postscript as well. Keep up the great work.
