  • 5:00 pm – Kickoff BBQ & Carnival Creations (Phi Kappa Psi)
    Come over to grab some burgers and hotdogs, at Phi Psi’s yard to kick off Extravaganza 2013! (in the grill area). Music cosponsored by WJRH! Also, get your creative juices flowing by helping design some wild costumes for LACSA’s Carnival parade Saturday night!

Tuesday, April 2nd

 

  • 12:00 pm – The Economics of Human Trafficking (Hugel 103)
    Come learn how sex trafficking of women and children has grown into an industry worth more than $32 billion and what governments around the world are doing to stop it. Lunch will be provided!

Wednesday, April 3rd

  • 12:00 pm – Global Africa: Demographics of the Digital (Hugel 103)
    Professor Wendy Wilson-Fall will explore the demographic profile of internet users in the African continent, and youth’s impact on social media. Lunch will be provided!

  • 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm – Bollywood Dhamaka! (Hugel 103)
    Professor Nandini Sikand will discuss the growing popularity of the music and dance in Bollywood films.

Friday, April 5th

  • 6:30 pm – International Food Tasting and Celebration of Weddings (Marlo Room & Farinon Atrium)
    Savor student-prepared dishes from around the world! Then watch people tie the knot in various traditions! WEDDING CAKE AND DANCING TO FOLLOW! Also, give $2 ‘Wedding Gifts’ for charity!

Saturday, April 6th

  • 8:00 pm – Grand Finale (Williams Center for the Arts)
    One of the most anticipated events of the week; performances representing cultures all around the world performed on stage at the Williams Center for the Arts!
  • 10:00 pm – LACSA’s Carnival Dance Party! (Marlo Room)
    Members from LACSA wearing crazy Carnival costumes will lead people in a parade from WAC into Marlo room for the LACSA Carnival! Food, Dance and Festivities will ensue! The perfect way to bid a great week of cultural exploration goodbye!
